It is quite possible that this could be cut by the Governorís office. Jeff encouraged the group to call the Governorís office and express the need and desire for this projectsí funding.

Paynesville Expo Booth: Jeff told the group about how this event was attended and received. It was very positive.

Board Display at the Paynesville City Hall: Karlin put this together and it turned out very nice. This will be used at future promotional events. Jeff would like to see another one for the Township Hall put together.

Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCMR) grant has been applied for by Stearns County. We are included in their grant request.

Johnnie Olson and Jeff Bertram attended Stearns County Parks meeting. Jeff expressed that the Parks Board was very positive and supportive of the project. They will be submitting a letter of support that may be used in the future.

The meeting then turned to New Business:

The group discussed a dedication ceremony on July 13th for the Old Lake Road section of the trail. Jeff informed the group of pursuing to get granite markers to be placed every half-mile of the trail. The group felt that this part of the trail and marker should be dedicated to Richard Mathowitz. Johnnie Olson made the motion, second by Dwaine Lindberg. The vote was taken and approved unanimously.

The Committee will meet at 8am on July 13th. The group will then move to the dedication site for the open house, which will begin at 11:00 am. The Committees for the open House and Dedication are: Food & Grills- Johnnie Olson & Lonnie Gleitz. Displays-Carlin Jacoby and Randy Thoreson. Promos ñ Todd Burlingame and Jeff Bertram.

Jeff informed the group we received the CAP Initiative grant for an intern program. Jeff has received several resumes. He is reviewing and pursuing an applicant at this time. His name is Cody Speckler.

Jeff requested a letter of support from Mark Kennedy. No response yet but he will let the group know if and when one is received.

The Township survey results were very positive and many were in favor of the project. (70% in favor).

There was no new information regarding easements at this time.

Dwaine Lindberg gave the group a summary of the Minnesota Biking Laws brochure. These will be handed out at the Bike Safety Rodeo event that will be held on June 1st, 2002.

Jeff informed the group of a web site being created for the Bike Trail. This would have meeting minutes, updates, future plans and events. Lynne Jacobson is helping with this endeavor and Dwaine Lindberg will assist as well.

Jeff requested that our group be on the Paynesville Charity Fund list. A meeting will be held mid-summer to see if weíre added or not.

An updated member list will be reviewed and made current. Consideration of other new members will be given. A member from the Rice Lake Association will be sought. Tanya Whitcomb has been removed.

The proper stripping and signage will be determined for Old Lake Road. Diamonds were suggested by Boonestroo to be painted on the road (62 of them) and metal signs (20 of them) were suggested with a bike and pedestrian on them. The City, Township and Koronis Lake Association will pay for the project.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
