Kampsen named to Class AA All-Tournament team

Josh KampsenJunior Josh Kampsen was named to the 2002 Class AA Minnesota State All-Tournament team, which was selected by a panel attending the tournament.

Kampsen had eight hits in 13 at bats at state, including four doubles and a homerun. As Paynesville's lead-off hitter, he scored eight runs in three games. Kampsen pitched against Blue Earth and played third base and leftfield for the Bulldogs.

As the consolation champion, the Bulldogs could expect to have at least one member on the ten-member team. Other top performers at state for Paynesville were: senior Nic Fuchs, who had six hits, including five doubles, in 11 at bats, driving home seven runs; senior Jeremy Fuchs, who pitched 12 innings and earned a win and a save; senior Wes Lieser, who had five hits and seven RBIs; and sophomore Adam Kampsen, who earned a pitching victory and had five hits.

All-tournament team members were: Adam Dahl of Rochester Lourdes; Ted Garry of Lourdes; Jay Fredrickson of Blue Earth; Lee Hodges of Blue Earth; Jay Kasner of Lourdes; Kampsen; Mike Lawler of Lourdes; Calvin Olson of Hermantown; Dan O'Malley of St. Anthony Village; and T.J. Stallman of Blue Earth.
