The Bulldogs played well in the first half, scoring one touchdown run by Ben Bork. Paynesville’s defense, led by Dustin Looman, held Big Lake scoreless in the first half.
In the third quarter, Paynesville scored another touchdown, run by Jeff Voss, to lengthen their lead to 12-0. Big Lake struggled to score but fell short. The Bulldogs allowed only 118 net yards in the entire game.
Paynesville’s victory showed the area teams that they are ready to play. Their next game is home on Friday, Sept. 11, against a very tough Litchfield team.
