On Monday, Sept. 15, the Paynesville boy's cross country team made the long bus trip north to Perham. The meet was good preparation for the section meet the Bulldogs will compete at in Perham in late October. Paynesville finished the meet in third place with 110 points.

Leading the way was senior Dan Johnson. He finished the race in 17:53, good for 15th place. Close behind Johnson was Clayton Lang and Luke Trees; only seconds apart. They gave the Bulldogs solid scoring, placing 18th and 19th respectively.

Showing his hard work and consistent racing was freshman Adam Utsch who finished with an individual time of 19:06. Not far behind was Troy Wendlandt and Colby Sheierl.

Zach Spates was Paynesville's seventh runner. Spates began strong with the mile and a half, but then his shins began to bother him, and he fell down twice. It is questionable whether he will run the rest of the season.

Princeton Invitational
On Sept. 20, the Paynesville boy's cross country team ran at the world's largest high school cross country meet held at the Camp in the Woods in Princeton, Minn. The meet included over 130 teams and more than 300 runners.

Paynesville runners had many good performances and set personal record times throughout the meet. The varsity squad placed 13th out of 80 teams.
