The team spent its first two weeks of practice trying to get in shape. As a result, the team had a good showing at the Sartell indoor meet held at St. Cloud State University.
In the first event of the meet, the 4 by 800-relay team ran a great race and won. The team, made up of Voss, Trees, Lang, and Johnson, set the school record in the event at 8 minutes and 55.4 seconds, which is only a few seconds slower than the time Paynesville ran at sections (outdoor) last year.
The second school record set was in the 800-meter run. Dan Johnson won a close race and in doing so shattered the indoor 800-meter record. He took over six seconds off the previous mark by running a 2:05.3 (The record was previously held by Ryan Louis with a time of 2:11.4 in 1996).
The third victory of the afternoon for the Bulldogs was in the 4 by 400-meter relay. This race was very close to record setting. The team of Johnson, Voss, Trees, and Rausch finished only half of a second slower than the school record time. The team ran a great 3:46.0.
