Buffalo
The Stars had the most exciting hockey game of all time on Saturday, Dec. 20. The Stars played the Buffalo Blades. The Stars knew the Blades were ranked ahead of them but they wanted to take the first place trophy home. The Stars won 3-1
It was a very exciting first period but no goals were scored and no penalties were called.
The second period was more exciting. The first goal of the game was scored by Kari Turkowski and was assisted by Mary Beth Johannes.
Buffalo scored their first goal at the end of the period to tie the game, 1-1.
The Stars got a two-minute break and then there would be a “sudden death overtime” Which means there would be a five minute overtime with a shootout. Sure enough, nobody scored so the Stars had a five-person shootout. The players chosen were: Page Widick, Mary Beth Johannes, Kari Turkowski, Melissa Jungles, and Natalie Rinn.
Buffalo couldn’t get by the Stars’ great goalie, Vogt. To end the game with a big bang, Widick and Turkowski scored to end the game. The final score was Stars 3 and Blades 1..
After that everybody went and piled on Vogt to congratulate her and to share the excitement. The Stars then received the first place trophy.
Everybody was so happy and can’t wait to put that first place trophy in the display case!
