The Paynesville Bulldog boy's cross country team concluded their season with a banquet on Monday, Nov. 3. The event capped a successful season in which the varsity team placed third in the conference and advanced to the Section 6A meet; and the junior varsity team won three of its meets.

The Bulldogs competed against some of Minnesota's finest teams throughout the season. Paynesville's section had the teams that finished first (Staples-Motley) and third (Morris) in the state meet. The West Central Conference also had the state runner-up, St. Cloud Cathedral. "The competition this year was the toughest it's ever been since I've coached here," said Coach Darrel Carstens.

The main story of this season was the development of the team. The Bulldogs lose only two of its top seven runners, Dan Johnson and Colby Scheierl. Thus, there will be a young, but experienced team next year.

At the season ending banquet, the awards were voted for and given out as follows:

MVP: Dan Johnson
Most Improved: Luke Trees
Hardest Worker: Clayton Lang
Most Mileage: Adam Utsch
Most Enthusiastic: Travis Flanders
Bulldog PRIDE: Clayton Lang and Eric Rausch
All-Conference: Clayton Lang, Dan Johnson, and Luke Trees
