Roscoe wins, continues hot start

Roscoe 5, St. Martin 4
The Roscoe Rangers continued their unbeaten start in the Stearns County League with a 5-4 victory over St. Martin on Sunday in Roscoe.

The Rangers ran their league winning streak for four games with the win, continuing their best start in team history.

St. Martin opened the scoring with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Rangers responded with four runs in the fifth, getting four two-out hits in the rally.

St. Martin tied the score with three runs in the sixth, but Roscoe scored again in the bottom of the seventh to win 5-4.

Brent Heinen started and pitched five innings for the Rangers. He struck out two batters in each of the first four innings.

Justin Mackedanz earned the victory in relief, and Greg Heinen picked up the save.

This week, the Rangers will host St. Nicholas on Wednesday, May 22, at 6:15 p.m. and will host Greenwald on Saturday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, May 26, the Rangers will play at Meire Grove at 1:30 p.m.

St. Martin will play at Pearl Lake tonight at 6:15 p.m. They will host Spring Hill on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and will play at New Munich on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Lake Henry 3, Elrosa 2
The Lake Henry Lakers scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to erase a one-run deficit and win their first game of the season on Sunday in Lake Henry.

Elrosa led 2-1 going into the ninth inning, but Ryan Wuertz homered to tie the score. Later in the inning, Mike Stalboerger scored the winning run on a broken-bat grounder by Adam Miller.

The Lakers won despite having only five hits and committing five errors. On the mound, though, starter Doug Fuchs and Stalboerger, in relief, held Elrosa to three hits. Fuchs struck out 12 in seven innings, and Stalboerger pitched two innings of perfect relief.

This week, the Lakers will play at Dassel tonight at 7:30 p.m. They will play at Spring Hill on Saturday at 1:30 and they will host Meire Grove on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Regal 6, Raymond 5
The Regal Eagles got their first victory of the season, rallying to beat Raymond 6-5 in a Cornbelt League game in Regal on Sunday.

Nathan Winter pitched four innings of shutout relief and hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Brad Lieser to cap a four-run rally over the last three innings.

Raymond scored twice in the second and three times in the third and led 5-2 after five innings. Regal scored a run in the seventh, two runs in the eighth to tie, and a run in the ninth to win.

Regal is now 1-2 in the Cornbelt League. The Eagles will play at Willmar on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Richmond 8, St. Martin 6
The Richmond Royals handed the St. Martin Martins their first league loss of the year on Saturday in St. Martin. This was a make-up game.

The Royals scored once in the second, twice in the third, and twice more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. St. Martin got on the scoreboard when Sam Rothstein hit a solo homer in the sixth.

Richmond scored two more runs in the top of the sixth, and St. Martin scored four in the bottom half of the inning, cutting the gap to 7-5. Each team scored one run in the ninth to make the final 8-6.

Jeremy Glenz pitched three innings of relief to earn a save for Richmond.

This loss - combined with St. Martin's loss to Roscoe on Sunday - left the Martins 2-2 in league after winning its first two league games.
