Boys take fourth in first golf meet

boys golf The Bulldogs competed in their first West Central Conference meet last Monday at Angushire Greens in St. Cloud. After a previously rainy week, lots of sunshine made for favorable golf conditions, with the exception of a slight wind. Ryan Mackedanz, left, was first for Paynesville.

As the day went on, golfers on all of the seven teams were facing problems with the course. Angushire is a very narrow, par-35 course, sandwiched in between buildings, houses, and roads. Every hole on the course has an out of bounds on at least one side.

At the end, the Bulldogs felt frustrated until they realized that most of the other teams had experienced the same problems. They placed a respectable fourth out of seven teams.

A big accomplishment for the team was beating Sauk Centre, which they haven't done in about six years. "I think we reached our goal of being right in the middle of the standings, but we can and have the potential to improve," said coach Todd Knudsvig.
