Ventriloquist to entertain at chamber banquet

James Wedgwood, a comedy ventriloquist, will entertain at the annual Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce banquet on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at Bernie’s Barn. Wedgwood has been entertaining for corporate functions, fairs, colleges and festivals all over the midwest since 1982. Wedgwood brings along some of his friends to entertain the audience: Bill the Bird, a mimicking prairie chicken of the Dakotas; Leprechaun Patrick McWiggins, a wisecracking leprechaun of the 90s; Althoosa McNerney, a lovable grandpa who is a bit confused; and Luanda LeDieu, a cabaret diva with street-wise advice and improvisational blues.

Tickets for the annual Chamber banquet ($15) can be purchased from any board member: Steve Brisendine, Rick Paul, Bev Mueller, Rosie Lieser, Sandy Wall, Marlene Theel, Donna Hunter, and Lee Landsteiner. The meal will consist of sirloin tips or grilled chicken breasts. The social hour will start at 5:30 p.m., the meal will be served at 7 p.m. and entertainment is scheduled to start about 8:30 p.m.

The Chamber will also be announcing the winners of the community awards: Outstanding Boss of the Year, Employee of the Year, Outstanding Farmer of the Year, Outstanding Young Person of the Year, and Community Service Award.
