4-Hers qualify for state fair

Local 4-H members recently competed at the Stearns and Meeker County fairs. Local winners in 4-H project areas have the opportunity to compete at the Minnesota State Fair, which runs from Thursday, Aug. 19, to Monday, Sept. 6.

Members of the Koronis Konquerors, the Lucky Spurs, and the Tel-Stars competed at the Stearns County Fair, which was held in Sauk Centre from Wednesday, July 21, to Sunday, July 25. Members of the Koronis Eager Beavers competed at the Meeker County Fair, which was held in Litchfield from Thursday, Aug. 5, to Sunday, Aug. 8.

The Lucky Spurs received a blue ribbon for their club booth and the Tel-Stars received blue ribbons for their community pride project and for their club scrapbook.

The following members earned trips to the Minnesota State Fair.

Lucky Spurs
Brittney Spanier: flower gardening; champion.

Koronis Eager Beavers
Dena Hegg: potato, champion. Peggy Thompson: quilting, champion.

Tim Schrupp: dairy (Guernsey) champion.

Angela Wunsch: food preservation, champion.

Koronis Konquerors
Caitlin Lien: horse, champion; public presentations, champion; clothing you buy, reserve champion.

Megan Reeck: sheep (ewe lamb), champion; lamb lead (ewe lamb), champion; lamb lead, champion; sheep species poster, champion; swine species poster, champion; clothing you buy, champion; flower gardening, reserve champion.

Tel-Stars
Adam Orbeck: ducks (market plan), champion; lawns and landscape design, reserve champion.

Kim Rausch: home environment, reserve champion.
