MINUTES
September 14, 2002

A Lake Koronis Recreational Trail meeting was conducted at 8:00 a.m. on September 14, 2002 at the Paynesville Township Hall.

Members present included: Jeff Bertram, Dwaine Lindberg, Johnnie Olson, Tara Schmidt, Pat Meagher, Mary Hahn, Todd Burlingame, Randy Thoreson, Ed Mc Intee, Phyllis Conlin and Lance Bernard. Members excused: Commissioner Don Otte, Karlin Jacoby, Lonnie Gleitz, Paul Osborne, Mayor Jeff Thompson

The meeting opened with old business:

Phase I Dedication and Open House was held on July 13, 2002. It was a very positive turnout. Positive media coverage from Willmar & Paynesville papers. Estimated 150 people attended.

The Stearns County LCMR grant did not get approved.

The committee hasn't heard back from the Rice Lake Association regarding a committee member to join.

There has been a few changes made with the trail website including a complete committee membership picture of all members. We have had a couple inquire about the trail through the website.

There was no other old business.

The meeting then turned to new business:

The Paynesville Area Charity Fund meeting was held and included us.

Discussion was held regarding the need to set up a committee to define all the grants available. The Minnesota Common Grant form has been done.

We would like to see the trail tied in with the Township Road projects. Possibility of a separate trail from the road or along the road. We are going through the bidding process to determine the cost and what’s feasible. It would take off the hill & filling for the trail.

The Grant meeting was rescheduled with Phyllis, Randy, Dwaine and Lance.

A list of committee e-mail addresses was passed out to update or correct.

The Koronis Hills Golf Course said it is not interested in the trail going through the course. Discussion was held on what way do we put the trail if the golf course does not allow us.

Boonstroo will be replying to the T-21, 2003 Grant and working with it.

Lance Bernard will demonstrate a PowerPoint project at our next meeting.

We are put in for the next fiscal season with NPS to stay involved.

A safe route through schools and Healthy communities are programs we should try to tie ourselves to.

There was no other new business.

The meeting was then adjourned.

Our next meeting will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002.
