November 16, 2002

A Lake Koronis Recreational Trail meeting was conducted at 10: a.m. on November 16, 2002, at the Paynesville Township Hall. Members present included: Jeff Bertram, Dwaine Lindberg, Pat Meagher, Todd Burlingame, Randy Thoreson, Ed Mc Intee, Phyllis Conlin, Lance Bernard and Lonnie Gleitz. Members excused: Commissioner Don Otte. Karlin Jacoby, Paul Osborne, Mayor Jeff Thompson, Johnnie Olson, Tara Schmidt and Mary Hahn.

The meeting opened with old business:

The Lake Koronis Recreational Trail will be included in the Paynesville Area Charity Funds requests, which is sent to the Paynesville Area.

The Southwest Initiative Foundation notified us that they would not fund any capital expenditures. The Stearns Electric Operation Round-Up notified us that they received too many requests and funded several others in the Paynesville area for this cycle of grants. They encouraged us to apply again.

We did not receive a name for a member of the Rice Lake Association at this point.

The meeting then turned to new business:

Information was given on the following grants. The Beim Foundation Grant wanted additional information. We sent out the information and we will review the information. The McKnight Foundation hasn't contacted us to date. Meeker County Cooperative is reviewing our request. MN Common Grant Form should be completed by Lance Bernard and whomever so we have a format to use.

The Paynesville Township Road project for next summer will be reducing the hill by Crest Ridge Road. The project will include our trail project. The Koronis Lake Association has given $10,000 to include a trail in the project, which would be about a 2-mile project.

A sub committee meeting attended by Randy, Lance, Dwaine & Phyllis was held discussing the steps & funding of the trail. We will pursue other funding sources, but we need T-21 funds in order to complete the project. We need to better define the route of the Trail.

Randy Thoreson reviewed "A recipe for success" answering what, who, why, how and where.

The committee was asked to review the 2002 T-21 report and call Jeff with any changes or questions on the application.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:05 p.m.
