Skills tested at Punt, Pass and Kick competition

Sixty-five athletes put their skills to the test on Sept. 22 at the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick competition.

The Paynesville Area Jaycees hosted the event at the Paynesville Area High School football field.

The young athletes ranged in age from 8 to 15 years old.

Each competitor threw the football as far as they could, punted and kicked the ball. The top individual (total distance of all three events) in each age division advances to the section competition in St. Rosa at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11.

Winners in the girls division were:
8 and 9-year-olds: first place, Brittni Schmitz, 667; second place, Emily Mergen, 402.

10 and 11-year-olds: first place, Brooke Schmitz, 14411; second place, Allyson Klenke, 1238; and third place, Breana Kochman, 120.

12 and 13-year-olds: first place, RaeAnn Knisley, 1747; and second place, Kayla Hemingson, 1728.

Boys division winners were:
8 and 9-year-olds: first place, Cory Nietfeld, 1364; second place, Oliver Johnson, 1353; and third place, Colin Spooner, 1286.

10 and 11-year-olds: first place, Jamie Paul, 2008; second place, Andrew Fuchs, 1911; third place Mark Andrie, 1801.

12 and 13-year-olds: Tyler Kochman, 22510; second place Kyle Savelkoul, 2239; and Aaron Nietfeld, 1906.

14 and 15-year-olds: first place, Todd Stelling, 2454; and second place, Adam Leyendecker, 1922.
