Bulldogs suffer narrow loss to six-rated Melrose

The Bulldogs made a great effort against the number six-ranked team in the state-the Melrose Dutchmen. Paynesville's defense, led by Dustin Looman and Bill Stanger, held Melrose's high power offense to just 236 total yards and allowed them only seven first downs, but Melrose still took the victory, 13-6.

The Paynesville offense made a come back after a poor performance Sept. 5 against the Litchfield Dragons. In Friday's game, the Bulldogs successfully moved the ball against the bigger Melrose defense, but were stopped on the Melrose nine, seven, four, and two-yard lines without scoring a point.

The Bulldogs are hoping to improve their goal line offense for the Sept. 19 game against the number one-rated Albany Huskies.
