The St. Cloud Broncos, an under-14 traveling soccer team, took the field against the Sibley Sting in Blaine on Saturday, Aug. 3, to determine the 1996 state champions. A little over an hour later, the Broncos walked off the field 2-0 victors.

One of the team members, Jeremiah (J.T.) Koehn, Paynesville, will be an eighth grader at Paynesville Middle School. Koehn played defense on the Broncoís team who ended the season with 27 wins, three loses and two ties.

The season included a 12-0 district league play record, a first place at the Fridley Invitational Tournament, second in Rochester, and a third at Father Hennepin in Champlin. The team also traveled to Rapid City, S.D., for the Rushmore Tournament.

This is J.T.'s third year playing for the Broncos and their first state championship.
