Trees qualifies for nationals in Junior Olympics

Josh Trees, Paynesville, broke a track record in the Junior Olympics in the United States Track and Field meet on Saturday, June 21 at Hamline University in St. Paul.

In a field of mostly inner-city athletes, Trees won the youth division (14 and 15 year olds) in the high jump competition with a jump of 5í8Ē betting the old mark of 5í6Ē. He also won his heat of in the 100-meter dash and went on to qualify for the national meet in both events. The nationals were held in Des Moines, Iowa.
