Paynesville Legion wins own tournament

The Paynesville Legion team lost to St. Joseph 11-1, in five innings on Monday, June 22, in St. Joseph.

Dustin Looman started on the mound for Paynesville, going all five innings and giving up 10 earned runs in five innings of work.

Looman also had the major offensive highlight for Paynesville as he went 1-2 with a solo home run in the second inning.

St. Martin 2

Roscoe defeated St. Martin 8-2 on Tuesday, June 23, in Roscoe.

Brent Heinen pitched for Roscoe going the distance giving up two runs on five hits while striking out 13.

Chris VanderBeek and Ken Winter led the way for Roscoe, each going 2-3. Todd Leyendecker helped out going 2-4 during the game. Ben Bork reached base every time he was up, going 1-1 with three walks.

VanderBeek and Todd Leyendecker both drove in runs in the second for Roscoe as they took a 6-1 lead.

Roscoe added one more in the fifth and the Rangers went on to an 8-3 victory.

Elrosa 2

Roscoe defeated Elrosa 17-2 on Thursday night in Roscoe.

Eric Kunstleben started and earned the win for the Rangers going five and two-thirds innings only giving up one run on five hits while striking out four. Chris VanderBeek and Justin Mackedanz threw relief for the Rangers.

VanderBeek led Roscoe going 4-4 with Curtis Christian also having a big night going 3-5.

The big highlight of the night for the Rangers was when they scored 11 runs in the sixth inning against Elrosa.

Roscoe is now 5-0 in Legion action.
