Seventh and eighth grade team win three

The Paynesville seventh and eighth grade baseball team won three games on the week.

On Tuesday, July 7, they defeated Willmar Blue 20-1. Paynesville got out to an early lead by scoring 14 runs in the first inning.

Kevin Mehr pitched for Paynesville and went the distance allowing only one run in the game.

Mehr also led the team in hitting going 3-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Joe Lingl had a big highlight for Paynesville when he hit a three-run home run.

On Thursday night Paynesville swept a double-header against New London-Spicer.

In the first game they defeated NL-S 6-3.

Brian Hartmann started for Paynesville and pitched the hole game, giving up three runs in five innings of work.

Ryan Schneider led the team in hitting in the first game going 2-2 with a solo home run. Adam Jorgensen went 1-2 with two RBIs in the game for Paynesville.

Paynesville scored five runs in the third inning, to give them the lead and allow them to hold on to win the game.

In the second game of the double-header Paynesville won 18-1.

Nick Fuchs started and pitched just the first inning, then Adam Jorgensen pitched and earned the victory for Paynesville.

Jon Knapp led the team at the plate going 2-3 with five RBIs and three runs scored including a three run home run. Chris Fuchs also had a good night going 1-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Paynesville remaines undefeated on the season and has two more games this week.
