Regal played in the Paynesville Town and Country Day Baseball Tournament Friday and Saturday and came away with two wins and the championship. On Friday night Regal took on St. Martin and won by a score of 20-7.

Regal had 20 hits with Mike Beier 2-4; Dave Zaeska, 2-5 with a double and 3 RBIs; Tim Haines, 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs; Mike Tangen, 2-6 with a triple and two RBIs; Jeff Deming, 1-4 with a three run home run and 4 RBIs; Randy Beier, 4-6 with a double and 3 RBIs; Dave Kemen, 3-6 with a double and 3 RBIs.

Tim Beier went the distance for Regal and got the win. Tom Beier, Tim’s twin brother, started for St. Martin and took the loss.

Paynesville 0

Roscoe defeated Paynesville 10-0 in a five inning game in the Paynesville Town and Country Days tournament.

Dan Starken started for Paynesville and he was relieved by Chris Stanley.

Jeff Welle pitched the whole game for the Rangers shutting the Pirates out and holding them to just three hits through the entire game.

Roscoe had a huge fourth inning that allowed them to score eight runs.

In the fourth the Rangers batted through their enitre order without getting an out the first time through.

Paynesville lost to St. Martin 8-7 on Saturday in the Conselation game of the Town and Country Days Tournament.

David Hemmesch started and took the loss for Paynesville. Jason Schlecht came in and threw relief.

Darren Michaelis led Paynesville in hitting going 3-5.

The Pirates got out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but St. Martin matched the Pirates in the bottom of the inning, and added two more the next inning to take a 4-2 lead.

St. Martin then would add two more in the fourth and one in both the fifth and sixth to take the lead 8-3.

Paynesville didn’t die, however. They scored three of their own in the top of the seventh and added one more in the eighth but they fell just short as they lost 8-7.

The Pirates have a busy week this week with home games against Farming on Tuesday night and Elrosa on Saturday night, both games begin at 8 p.m.

They will then travel to Spicer to play the New London-Spicer Twins at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday night Regal defeated Roscoe by the score of 5-3 for the championship of the Paynesville Town and Country Day Tournament.

Regal started the scoring in the top of the first inning when Mike Beier reached first on an error, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on an infield out.

In the second inning, Regal added another run when Brad Lieser walked, Dave Kemen singled and Mike Beier had an RBI single.

In the third inning Regal made the score 3-0. Mike Tangen singled, went to second on an infield out and scored on Randy Beier’s single.

Roscoe made it 3-1 in their half of the third with Jeff Welle getting a walk, Greg Heienen getting a walk and Tony Orbeck hitting a run scoring double.

In the fifth Roscoe added one run on Tony Orbeck’s solo home run.

In the sixth inning Regal scored one run on a walk to Jeff Deming who stole second, went to third on an outfield fly and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brad Lieser.

Roscoe answered with one run in their half of the inning on a single by Mark Winter, an error and an RBI single by Russ Schaefer.

Regal added one more run in the ninth inning on a single by Kemen, a hit bats man and an RBI single by Zaeska.
