On Monday and Tuesday, June 3 and 4, Heather Schmitt, PHS senior, had the opportunity to compete at the state golf meet. This two day, 36-hole tournament was held at the St. Cloud Country Club.
The first day Schmitt scored well. Heather ended the day with a score of 86, which put her in a tie for twelfth place. The second day nothing seemed to go well and she ended up shooting a 96. She did not place as high as she expected to, but Heather still ended up in the upper 20s out of 88 golfers.
Coach Todd Knudsvig said, "She should be proud of herself for just making it to the state tournament. That's an accomplishment in itself."
Overall, Schmitt has had a really good season and golf career. Out of six years of golfing on varsity, she has qualified for sections five times, has been an all-conference player four years, and has played in the state tournament twice.
