PHS softball team defeats Kimball 16-6

On Friday, May 1, the Bulldogs travelled to Kimball for their third game of the week. Paynesville won the game 16-6.

The Bulldogs played well offensively, where they have been struggling, as well as defensively.

In the second inning, the first three batters for the Bulldogs, Trish Hemmesch, Michele Lahr, and Gretchen Ziemer, all walked. Trish Hemmesch scored on a wild pitch, as did Lahr.

In the third inning, Jen Lindquist scored on a home run hit by Milissa Hopfer.

The fifth inning was a big one for the Bulldogs. They scored seven runs, having walked eight and Carrie Hemmesch was hit by a pitch.

Defensively, Lindquist made some remarkable grabs in center field. According to coach Rafferty, ÒShe gets a good jump on the ball, so she has time to get to it and make the play.Ó

Melrose
On Tuesday, April 28, the Bulldogs softball team travelled to Melrose where they lost 17-3. Paynesville struggled offensively, with only four hits. Paynesville drew only one walk, but pitcher Julie Sixta gave up nine.

Litchfield
On Thursday, April 30, Paynesville travelled to Litchfield, where they were defeated 9-2. The BulldogÕs defense is showing improvement, but they are still struggling offensively. Paynesville left eight people stranded on base.
