Boys Golf. . .
Sub Sections for the boys golf team were held in Albany last Monday, May 19. The boys started out early, leaving the high school at 8 a.m. The 18-hole tournament began at 9:30 a.m. Thirteen teams competed for the top two places and the right to advance to Sections.

Unfortunately, the boys won't advance to Sections this year. As in a normal meet, the top four scores were counted to make the final point total. The Paynesville Bulldogs played well though, ending with a total of 359, which put them in eighth place.

Jeff Meyer shot a low score of 78, which tied him at fourth place. In a tie-breaker, he was moved back into fifth. He went on to individual Sections at Becker on Tuesday, May 26.

The other team members who competed at Sub Sections were Nathan Olmscheid with a 91, Ryan Mackedanz and James Gulbransen with a pair of 95s, Eric Werlinger with a 97, and Josh Ryan with a 114.

Girls Golf. . .
The girl's golf team participated in the Sub Section meet at the Albany golf course on Monday, May 19. The weather, once again, proved to be a disappointment. Winds continued on and off throughout the day and the temperature was quite cold.

The course was still in rough condition
with a lot of winterkill damage to the greens and fairways. Putting across the winterkill was a tough challenge for everyone, because it made it difficult to judge speed and the proper alignment.

Out of the eleven competing teams, the Lady Bulldogs placed third with 399, losing to LPGE by only five strokes.

Mary Frandson led the Bulldogs with a score of 90, tying for third overall in the individual competition. Lynn Stoneburner followed, scoring a 97 and placing fourth. Mackenzie Merrill and Rachel Larson also finished in the top ten, shooting a pair of 106's. Shannon Hartfiel and Becca Werlinger also played well at the meet.

On Tuesday, May 27, Frandson, Stoneburner, Larson, and Merrill, traveled to Becker for the individual Section meet.
