PHS baseball team ends regular season with 13-5 record

The Bulldogs lost to Melrose 6-3 on Monday, May 12, in Melrose.

David Hemmesch pitched for the Bulldogs allowing two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out four.

The Bulldogs were plagued by errors. As a team they committed six, and that is what ended up causing the loss as Melrose was able to get four unearned runs in the game.

This loss made the Bulldogs 4-5 in conference.

Paynesville vs. LPGE
The Bulldogs defeated LPGE, 5-0 last Thursday in Paynesville.

Jason Schlecht pitched for the Bulldogs, allowing no runs on just two hits, while striking out nine, and not walking anyone.

David Hemmesch led the Bulldogs, going 3-3 with three RBIs. Brandon Wensmann also went 2-4.

The Bulldogs conference record improved to 5-5, while going to 11-5 overall.

Paynesville vs. Cathedral
The Bulldogs defeated St. Cloud Cathedral, 4-3 in eight innings, last Friday in St. Cloud.

Mike Stalboerger and Jeremy Glenz shared the pitching duties for the Bulldogs.

Glenz also led the Bulldogs in hitting, going 1-2 with two RBIs. Josh Williams also went 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored for Paynesville.

Paynesville vs. Litchfield
The Bulldogs defeated the Litchfield Dragons, 9-8 last Friday night, in Litchfield.

David Hemmesch pitched for the Bulldogs, allowing eight runs, on fifteen hits, in seven innings.

Chris Soine and Jason Schlecht led the Bulldogs in hitting. Soine went 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Schlecht went 2-4 with two RBIs and one run scored.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season at 13-5. Their first round game was at Paynesville on Tuesday night against Kimball. With a win, the Bulldogs will play at Litchfield on Thursday night.
