On Tuesday, May 5, the Paynesville tracksters embarked on a journey to the Benson Invitational. The boys fared well against some tough competition, some of which they had seen before. They finished third in the team standings close behind first and second place.

In the 110-meter high hurdles, Troy Wendlandt was the man of the day beating a competitive Litchfield runner for the win.

The 3200-meter run went well for Paynesville. Freshmen, Clayton Lang and Adam Utsch finished first and second in the event. Utsch ran an especially competitive race to run a personal best time of 10:44.

In the 1600-meter run all five Paynesville runners placed in the top eight. All of the Bulldogs were freshmen and these hard workers are the future of this track team.

Steve Flint and Josh Bork both had a good day throwing the shot. Flint almost broke the 40-foot barrier, but was short by half an inch. This was a personal best. Bork also putted well with a distance of 37'4.5".

This meet was a good showing for the boys. There were a lot of individual as well as relay successes.

The next meet for the Bulldogs is the West Central Conference track meet at Long Prairie on Thursday, May 14.
