On March 10, the Paynesville boyís track team began yet another season under head coach, Kyle Nehowig, and assistant coach, Scott George.

Paynesville lost numerous seniors last year due to graduation. Included in those lost were school record holders Jeff Hansen, Tom Lieser, Jay Zumwalde, and valuable thrower, Loren Massman.

This year's team boasts a good mix of both rookie and veteran tracksters. Returning letterwinners for this season are: seniors-Tom Knutson, Chad Hollander, Andy Heinen, Grant Bowden, and Matt Jorgensen; junior- Dan Johnson; sophomores-Josh Jones and Troy Wendlandt.

Also competing: seniors-Lee Hiltner, Doug Utsch, and Nathan Pelz; juniors-Lael Zwiefel and Seth Elmhorst; freshmen-Jeff Voss, Luke Trees, John Brady, Casey Kavanagh, Josh Roemeling, and Steve Flint.

After two weeks of invigorating yet exhausting workouts, the boys track team ventured their way to their first indoor track meet. The meet was at St. Cloud State, hosted by Sartell on Saturday, March 22.

The Bulldogs fared well against tough competition, including Sartell, Morris, Albany, Sauk Centre, and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa. Despite missing runners due to the German trip, the meet had many highlights including: freshman, Jeff Voss, stepping up to take first in the 400; a first place, near school record, triple jump by Josh Jones; Andy Heinen and Troy Wendlandt finishing first and second, respectively, in a close hurdle race.
