On Saturday, March 21, the Paynesville girls track team had their first meet of the season. It was at St. Cloud State on their indoor track. The team had really practiced hard for this meet and were definitely ready to compete.

Teams competing were: Sartell, Willmar, Paynesville, Morris, Albany, and Sauk Centre. There was no team scoring for this meet.

The 3200-meter relay team started off the meet with a bang. Carin Frenchick, Jenny Hess, Erin Aagesen, and Paula Leyendecker took first with a time of 10:30. They also set the school record. Hess is a new addition to the team this year as an eighth grader. She had the fastest split in the relay.

Desi Petkoff is another new addition to the team. She comes to Paynesville from Michigan. She ran a great race in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9:8 to give her a fourth place finish.

Another school record (that is 11 years old) was broken when Tiffany Rausch ran an excellent race in the 400-meter dash. Her time was 1:02.5 and she received a second place finish.

The newest event to hit girls track is the pole vault. It went very well and Krysta Larson established the school record when she jumped 6í6Ē to get a second place and Sara Spanier jumped 5í4Ē for a fifth place.
