The Bulldogs hosted Yellow Medicine East, Friday, Feb. 7, in a nonconference matchup.

A sloppy first quarter got the game off to a slow start, and ended with a score of 4-4. YME picked it up in the second quarter, and by halftime the Bulldogs trailed by ten.

With the determination to turn things around in the second half, the Bulldogs held YME to one point in the third quarter.

ďOur defense was super, except for one quarter,Ē stated coach Cameron Mahlum.

Paynesville managed to hold YME's leading scorer to four points, all of these coming in the first half.

YME didn't score a field goal the entire second half, but the points they earned from behind the line were enough to keep them out front.

ďWe didn't give up. The girls fought until the end," added coach Mahlum.

The Bulldogs were led by Amber Michaelis who scored nine points, and shot 100 percent from the free throw line, 5-5. Michaelis also grabbed five rebounds and four steals.

Tanya Lieser added six blocks to the night, and Becky Beek snatched eight rebounds.
