Gymnastics: Place sixth in WCC tourney

On Saturday, Feb. 7, the Bulldog gymnasts traveled to Litchfield for the West Central Conference Gymnastics meet. Paynesville finished in sixth place at the meet and fifth place overall in the conference. Melrose finished in first place, winning their ninth straight conference title.

Throughout the season the gymnasts in the conference have been earning points for top five finished at dual meets. At the WCC meet, the top 10 finishers earn points, with first being worth 10 points and tenth worth one. The points are then added and the top 15 gymnasts are named to the all-conference team. Seniors Maria Wegner and Sara Spanier both were named to the all-conference team.

On Tueday, Feb. 3, the Bulldog gymnasts travelled to Alexandria for their last dual meet of the season. Paynesville was defeated 125.75-114.55.

In the all-around competition, Hemmesch finished in fourth place, and Spanier earned a second place finish.
