Young athletes put their skills to the test

Athletes in fourth through ninth grade put their basketball shooting skills to the test in the Paynesville Area Jaycees Supershot Contest Monday, Nov. 30.

Forty-six youngsters competed at the Paynesville Area Middle School. They have seven positions from which they were required to shoot the basketball through the hoop.

The top three boys and girls in each grade level advance to the regional competition in Willmar on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Listed below are the grade level winners and their scores:
Girls:
Fourth grade:
Marissa Mackedanz, 14; Kirsten Miller, 8; and Kristin Lang, 4;

Fifth grade: Brook Schmitz, 27; Ashley Lieser, 14; and LeAnn Nepsund, 6;

Sixth grade: Valerie Callenius, 20; Kendra Johnson, 17; Sam Moser, 15;

Seventh grade: Trisha Wendlandt, 15; RaeAnn Knisley, 11; Alisa Schmidt, 1;

Eighth grade: Ann Stalboerger, 22; Hannah Braun, 13; Kayla Hemingson, 9;

Ninth grade: Stacy Lieser, 24; Melissa Bachman, 9; and Stephanie Moser, 6.

Boys:
Fourth grade:

Fifth grade: Ross Barten, 20; John Hemingson, 20; Derek Looman, 17;
