Wrestling: Wins championship in two tourneys

Loses conference met and conference title to Litchfield

On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Bulldogs started the week off by wrestling Litchfield. This proved to be one of the more important matches of the season since it helped determine what team would take the conference title. Litchfield is also one of the contenders for the region title.
The match didnít start out as well as usual with the Bulldogs behind by 18 points going into 125 pounds. Paynesville knew Litchfield would be tough to beat. Paynesville struggled to stay with Litchfield, but in the end Litchfield handed Paynesville a 37-27 loss.

WCC Tournament
On Friday, Paynesville wrestled at the West Central Conference Tournament. Paynesville won the meet with a three-point margin over Litchfield.

This was not enough to overtake Litchfield for the WCC Conference championship as the championship is based on points accumlated throughout the regular season.

Eastview Tournament
On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Bulldogs traveled to Apple Valley to a newly opened school named East View. Paynesville knew this was a good test as Dassel-Cokato was one of the top contenders for our team region title, as is Litchfield.

Paynesville ending up meeingt D-C for the championship and came home with a close 27-24 win.
