Sauk Centre
On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Paynesville Bulldog boy’s basketball team traveled to Sauk Centre to take on the Mainstreeters.
The Mainstreeters had been rated as high as tenth in Class AA. Their main scoring threat is Aaron Wills. The Bulldogs thought if they could stop Wills, the rest of the Streeters’ offense would not be a threat. With this in mind, Paynesville decided to play a man-to-man defense in an attempt to stop Wills who was averaging 19 points a game.
One of the big differences in the game was that Sauk Centre shot 37 free throws.
Paynesville: 10 19 16 9 -54
Sauk Centre: 11 15 17 21 -64
