Tangen leads college team at tourney

Steph Tangen led the 1997 Voyageur volleyball team to the consolation championship at the Minnesota Community College Conference Volleyball State Tournament.

Tangen, a 5'7" outside hitter, led this yearís team with 237 kills and 546 digs (6.2 per game). She also served 95 percent. Tangen was named to the Northern Division First Team, and to the All-Tournament Team at the MCCC State Tourney and made Second Team All-State.

Reflecting on the season, RRCC coach Mel Millerbernd states, ďSteph is a very intense, competitive athlete. Her hustle, determination, and versatility were all major factors in our teamís success this season. Iím looking for great things from her next year. Sheís a good one, weíre glad she chose RRCC.Ē

The daughter of Don and Leanne Tangen, Paynesville, Tangen is a freshman at the Rainy River Community College, International Falls.
