The Lady Bulldogs opened their season on Tuesday, Nov. 25, against the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars. The Jags defeated the Bulldogs, 54-38.

The youth and inexperience of the Bulldogs was apparent throughout the first half. The girls showed little confidence in their shooting and made many mistakes. This resulted in the team scoring only six points in the first quarter.

During the second quarter, the Jaguars began to heat it up as Amanda Illies scored nine points and led the Jaguars to the locker room with a 33-17 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs picked it up in the second half and outscored the Jags, 21-20. Even with their increased intensity, the Bulldogs were unable to stop Illies who scored 23 points and ripped down 10 rebounds for the Jaguars.

Leading the Bulldogs were junior Amber Michaelis and sophomore Tanya Lieser. Michaelis had 15 points for the Bulldogs while Lieser recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 blocked shots.

The highlight of the night for the Bulldogs was they broke the school record they set last year for blocked shots in a single game. The new record stands at 17.
