On Tuesday, Dec. 21, Paynesville traveled to Long Prairie to face the Thunder. The Bulldogs got off to a good start and never looked back. Paynesville won easily 60-42.

The Bulldogs got a jump on their offense in the first quarter scoring 21 points to the Thunder's 13. Nine of Stacy Lieser's 14 points came on three treys in the first quarter.

Carrie Hemmesch led the team in the second quarter with seven of her 11 points. The Bulldogs also improved their free throw shooting by converting 14 of 21 free shots. The score at halftime was 32-21 with Paynesville in the lead.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs didn't show much intensity and almost let the Thunder back into the game. "We need to keep the intensity level up the whole game, not just when we want to," said coach Pat Deegan. It was the only quarter that the Thunder outscored the Bulldogs, but their advantage turned out to be only one point.

The Bulldogs played better in the fourth quarter scoring 19 points, 11 of them coming from Tanya Lieser.

The Lieser girls combined for 31 of the Bulldogs' 60 points. Tanya Lieser had 17 points, and Stacy Lieser added 14 points and three steals. Hemmesch contributed 11 points.

The Bulldogs don't play again until Jan. 4, when they will travel to Dassel-Cokato.
