Lady netters win one, lose one

The Bulldogs hosted the Albany Huskies, Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Huskies outscored the Bulldogs 80-41, claiming the conference win.

Performance by the Bulldogs in the first quarter got the game off to a good start. Good offense and defense held the first quarter score to 13-10, Huskies.

"We really started well, but then one of their guards (Shanna Smith) went on fire. She nailed four three pointers in the second quarter,” stated varsity coach Cameron Mahlum.

"Missing practices because of weather and not playing a game for nearly a month, really showed,” added Mahlum.

The Bulldogs were led by Tangen, with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Beek added seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals of her own.

Sauk Centre
The Bulldogs beat the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters, 46-28, last Friday in a conference match-up at home.

"Our offense and defense were much improved from the Albany game,” stated coach Mahlum.

An outstanding performance by freshman Tanya Lieser in only her fourth varsity start, added 20 points, six rebounds, and five blocked shots to the win.

"This win is huge. Hopefully, we can build on this showing," added Mahlum.

The Bulldogs were led by Tanya Lieser, 20 points, six rebounds, and five blocks; and Tangen, eight rebounds, five assists, and six steals.
