Bulldogs enter break with victory

Rachel Koehn on the Uneven Bars The gymnastics team ended the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule on a winning note.

The Bulldogs defeated Kimball/Eden Valley-Watkins by a score of 115.1-101.15 on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Kimball/EV-W's Jodine Lemke won three individual events and the all-around competition in the meet in Paynesville, but the Bulldogs used their depth to win as a team.

Kelli Fenske tied with Lemke for the highest score on the vault, both having 8.55. Amy Mueller and Michelle Wolbeck tied for third with scores of 8.25. Mueller also placed second in the floor exercise with a 7.9.

Rachel Koehn (pictured at right on the uneven bars) won the uneven bars for Paynesville with a score of 7.25. Joy Hemmesch was second with a 7.05.

Koehn and Wolbeck placed second and third respectively on the balance beam and in the all-around competition. Koehn earned a 7.2, and Wolbeck had a 7.1 on the beam.

In the all around, Koehn had 29.5 and Wolbeck had 29.25.

The Bulldogs' meet against New London-Spicer on Thursday, Dec. 21, was postponed due to the weather. The make-up date was unavailable at press time.

The gymnastics team is off until the new year. Their next meet will be on Thursday, Jan. 4, at Long Prairie-Grey Eagle.
