Wrestling: Extend winning record to seven

On Friday, Dec. 19, the Paynesville Bulldogs wrestled their only match of the week against Albany. Going into the match the wrestlers were 6-1 for the season.

The Bulldogs grabbed an early lead over Albany with a pin by Max Meagher. They continued to dominate the match with Ryan Glenz, Jona Welle, Bret Aagesen, and Chris Welle claiming three more pins and one tech fall respectively. Also at 145, Colby Scheierl got an early lead over his opponent, Andy Theis, and held on to win his match 6-1. The Bulldogs finished the match with a score of 42-19 over Albany.

The Paynesville wrestling teamís next match is on Thursday, Jan. 8, against Long Prairie. Two days later, Jan. 10, they have the annual Farmington tournament. Over Christmas vacation the Bulldogs have scrimmages and practices to ready them for the first week back.
