The dance line competed in three categories: pom, jazz-funk, and high- kick. Paynesville competed in the high-kick category, along with three other teams: Mankato Loyola, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, and Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
The results were anxiously awaited, and cheers were heard as first place was awarded to the Pyanesville Pirouettes.
The Pirouettes have been very busy this year. Along with preparing for competitions, the dancers have held many fund raisers for new uniforms and other expenses. They danced in the Paynesville and New London parades this summer and have just finished “Junior Pirouettes” which is a dance camp for girls kindergarten through eighth grade.
Under the supervision of coach Colleen Peyerl, the Pirouettes are looking forward to a great second half of the season. Upcoming events include the Montevideo competition on Jan. 9 and dancing at winter sporting events.
