Stars record first-ever win in Central Lake Conference

The River Lakes Stars boys' hockey team earned their fifth victory of the season - matching their win total from a year ago in only six games - by beating Sartell 7-4 on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

The victory was the first for the Stars in boys' hockey in the Central Lakes Conference.

The Stars took a 5-1 lead over the first two periods, getting a hat trick from junior forward Nick Dahlen. He scored two goals in the first period and another in the second as the Stars took an early lead.

Sartell scored three goals, including two on the power play, in the third period, but the Stars scored two more goals and won 7-4.

Dahlen led the Stars with three goals and an assist. Senior center Mike Anderson had three assists and one goal. Junior forward Andy Schramel also scored two goals for the Stars.

Junior defenseman Kevin Braun scored the final goal for the Stars.

The Stars were outshot 36-27 by Sartell, but senior goalie Blake Theisen made 32 saves for the Stars.

This week, the Stars will play in a holiday tournament at Pine City on Friday, Dec. 26; Saturday, Dec. 27; and Monday, Dec. 29.

Bagley 4, River Lakes 1
The River Lakes Stars lost 4-1 to Bagley on the road on Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Josh Harren scored the goal for the Stars.

No other stats were available at press time. The Stars are now 5-2 for the season.
