Gymnastics: win and lose this week

On Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Bulldogs gymnastics team defeated Dassel/ Cokato, 119.9-115.5.

During the two-minute touch warm-up on vault, Maria Wegner injured her knee and had to pull out of the competition. The team had to count every score on each of the apparatus. This put some pressure on the remaining gymnasts, but they handled it well.

The Bulldogs began the night strongly on vault, where they didnít count a score lower than an eight.

During their domination on beam, the Bulldogs had three no-fall beam routines.

In the all-around competition, Spanier finished in first place with a season high score of 32.6 and Hemmesch placed second with a score of 29.95.

Benson
The Bulldogs suffered a loss on Thursday, Jan. 8, to Benson. The final score of this West Central Conference meet was 124.35-119.95. Paynesville fell behind from the start and never caught up.

On vault, both Flanders and Moser earned personal best scores of 8.2 enroute to tieing for fifth place.

Flanders won the bars competition with a personal best score of 8.05. of 7.95 to finish in fifth place.
