Paynesville coasted to victory at Sauk Centre Friday night, winning nine individual matches in posting their first conference win of the year 47-18.

The Bulldogs collected five pins, a technical fall, and a forfeit. Nathan Glenz, with a pin at 112, and Bryan Kotten, a forfeit at 119, gave Paynesville a lead they would not relinquish.

Scott Braun sealed the victory with a first-period pin at 160, and Shaun Fleischhacker followed with another at 171.

Matt Brauchler at heavyweight and Nic Fuchs at 140 also recorded pins for Paynesville. At 130, Dave Kerzman won by technical fall, 18-3, in 5:19. Winning by decision for the Bulldogs were Brad Schultz at 125 and Joe Hiltner at 145.

The closest match of the night was between the Bulldogs' Josh Bork and Sauk Centre's Joe Fiedler at 189. At the end of regulation time, they were tied 9-9, but Fiedler scored a takedown in overtime to win 11-9.

The Bulldogs, conscious of the 30-match limit for individual wrestlers, rotated some wrestlers into the varsity lineup.

The Bulldogs wrestled Becker and Annandale-Maple Lake at the Becker Quadrangular last night.

The Bulldogs will travel to Litchfield on Tuesday, Dec. 21, for a match that could decide the conference cham-pionship. Last year, the Bulldogs beat Litchfield 35-21 in a dual meet and also defeated them at the individual conference meet.

This year, Litchfield is ranked sixth in the preseason Class AA ratings in The Guillotine. The Dragons feature five ranked wrestlers, including three who placed in last year's state tournament: Matt Forester, fourth at 103; Mark Twardy, third at 112; and Nate Turck, fourth at 140.
