Stars crush Bagley 6-0 in Paynesville
The River Lakes Stars boys' hockey team earned their second victory this winter, crushing Bagley/Fosston 6-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Koronis Civic Arena in Paynesville.|
The Stars (2-3) scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the first period and controlled play for most of the game.
Senior wing Nick Dahlen scored the Stars' first goal, taking a loose puck at center ice, skating in, and scoring on a wrist shot to notch a short-handed tally. Junior Thomas Anderson and senior Ryan Weber added even-strength goals for the Stars in the first period.

Dahlen's goal was one of two short-handed scores for the Stars, who killed a number of power plays for Bagley/Fosston, including a two-man advantage to end the first period when three Stars were in the penalty box simultaneously.
Junior Luke Harren got the Stars' only goal of the second period, just over a minute into the period.
The Stars' line of Harren, Weber, and senior Andy Schramel accounted for three goals, with Schramel scoring the Stars' fifth goal in the opening minutes of the third period. Harren and Schramel led the Stars with three points apiece in the victory.
Junior Jamie Paul got his first goal of the season in the third period, scoring on a rebound to make the final 6-0.
Junior Eric Prowker and sophomore Brian Skluzacek combined for a shutout in goal for the Stars, with Prowker stopping nine shots over the first two periods and Skluzacek stopping six shots in the final period.
The Stars were scheduled to play at Willmar on Thursday, Dec. 9, but that game was postponed due to inclement weather. It has not been rescheduled yet.
This week, the Stars played Sartell on Tuesday night. They will host Monticello on Thursday at the Koronis Civic Arena, and they will play Sauk Centre in Richmond on Tuesday, Dec. 21.
