After two weeks of practicing the Bulldog wrestlers were ready to start the season. The first matches against Annandale/Maple Lake proved the wrestlers were ready with Paynesville leading the match 39-0 after Colby Scheirel major decisioned his opponent at 145. At 152 Ryan Glenz wrestled a great match against Reggie Fuller and lost the match by only two points. Chris Welle, wrestling at 125, also wrestled a good match, beating Eric Pitzl by two points.

Foley Dual Tournament
On Saturday, Dec. 6, the Paynesville wrestlers finished off the week in Foley for their annual dual tournament. Paynesville lost the championship to hosts, Foley, after winning it the last two years.

The Paynesville wrestlers started off the tournament with Hibbing. The match was won pretty easily with a final score of 55-15.

In the second round, Paynesville faced Little Falls. Paynesville kept on bulldozing through their opponents, beating Little Falls 43-19. After their second win of the day, Paynesville knew they would face their toughest challenge this year in the upcoming round. They watched as Foley ran over their opponents like Paynesville had in their matches.

Paynesville started the championship match with Foley with a very needed win by Max Meagher. The score was fairly close between Paynesville and Foley throughout the match, but Foley eventually inched ahead to win the match 33-25.
