The Bulldogs were victorious over Dassel-Cokato at their first meet on Thursday, Nov. 30. The team did an awesome job in beating the Chargers 113.85-107.075.

Kelli Fenske and Joy Hemmesch started the victory by placing first and second on the vault, with scores of 8.35 and 8.25 respectively. The Bulldogs' total on the vault for the night was 31.5.

The uneven bars went tremendously in the Bulldogs' favor, as four out of the five Paynesville girls placed, with a total score of 25.975 for the team.

Everyone had very nice routines on the floor exercise but unfortunately only two girls placed. Fenske got a 7.65 for fifth place and Hemmesch tumbled into second place with an 8.0. The total floor score was 29.5.

The last event of the night was the balance beam. There, once again, four out of the five girls placed. The Bulldogs beam score was 26.875.

Michelle Wolbeck placed second in the all-around competition with 28.025 and Hemmesch placed first with 30.65.

Thursday's victory was just a start to what promises to be a good season for the gymnasts.

The Bulldogs had a meet yesterday against Annandale.

Their next competition will be with Sauk Centre at home on Thursday night. The meet will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Koronis Assembly Grounds.
