Hiltner wrestles for North Dakota State

Lee Hiltner, a 1997 graduate of Paynesville Area High School, has joined the wrestling team at North Dakota State University, as the Bisons look to defend their Division II national championship.

Hiltner, a junior college All American at Ridgewater College in Willmar last season, is wrestling at 197 pounds.

Hiltner has already placed second at two tournaments. He was second at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D., on Nov. 11, losing to Owen Elzen of the Gophers in the final. He pinned the Gophers' Eli Ross in the semifinals.

On Saturday, Nov. 18, Hiltner was the runner-up at 197 in a 21-team tournament at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Hiltner won three matches before losing 4-2 to Cliff Thompson of Upper Iowa in the final.

North Dakota State won its third national title last year.

He is the son of Sy and Linda Hiltner of Regal.

Tangen plays volleyball at BSU
Steph Tangen, a 1998 graduate of Paynesville Area High School, competed on the volleyball team at Bemidji State University this fall.

Tangen played in 92 games and had 176 digs.

She is the daughter of Don and Leanne Tangen of Paynesville.
