Five athletes bowl at state competition

The 2000 Fall Bowling Classic for Special Olympics was held from Nov. 3-5 in South St. Paul. The three-day event drew 721 athletes from all over Minnesota.

Five athletes from Paynesville were eligible to compete in the state tournament. Crystal Rudy represented Paynesville Area Elementary School, Dustin Rudy and Erica Wander represented the middle school, and Danny Schutz and Dallas Richardson competed from the high school.

Athletes were divided according to age and skill level. Each athlete bowled two games as part of the singles competition.

At the tournament, Crystal Rudy received a fourth place ribbon. Bronze medals for third place went to Dallas Richardson and Dustin Rudy. Silver medals for second place went to Danny Schutz and Erica Wander.
