At the banquet the Bulldogs watched the highlights of the year, from T.J. Schultz’s five interceptions to Jeff Voss’ five touchdowns against Cathedral. Voss broke the record held by Brandon Wensmann of total yards in a game. With recalculations, Voss broke the record of 307 by two yards.
Leading players on the offensive side are as follows: Jeff Voss had 788 yards rushing to lead the running backs this year. Josh Roemeling was 20-42 for passing this year. Josh Jones gained 194 yards in the receiving category. Dustin Looman’s average for kicking was 47.8, and Ben Bork’s average for punting was 33.7.
The players who helped put Paynesville on the board this year are as follows: Voss, Roemeling, Jones, and Ben Bork with 10, 3, 2, 1 touchdowns respectively. Tyler Wuertz finished off this category with one safety.
On the defensive side of the ball, Dustin Looman came close to the record of most defensive points in a season. With 221 defensive points, he was short by about 20 points. Mentioned earlier, Schultz had five interceptions in the year, he needed one more to tie the record of interceptions in a season. As Schultz is only a sophomore, he is one player to watch in the upcoming years. Senior Tyler Wuertz came in second on the team with individual defensive points with 116 points this year.
As the highlight film ended, the coaches announced the all conference players. The WCC All-Conference players for 1998 from Paynesville are Jeff Voss and Dustin Looman.
All-Conference Honorable Mention players were: Josh Jones, Matt Brauchler and Steve Flint.
