Girls continue winning tradition at Albany

The girls ran their way to a fourth- place finish at the Paynesville Invite on Thursday, Sept. 26.

This was a key meet, with some of the top teams in the area competing. This is beneficial, as it lets the team and runners know where they are standing.

Weather conditions were not favorable to the girls. Frigid air and freezing drizzle caused many runners to huddle for warmth until the start of their race.

Amanda Lieser led the Bulldogs in ninth. Erin Aagesen followed close behind in 12th. Next in were Tiffany Rausch and Carin Frenchick in 25th and 27th respectively. These two have run close together all year. They help push each other along. Following Frenchick was Camille Flanders in 33rd.

Albany

The Paynesville girls cross country team took the championship at the Albany Invite last Monday, Sept. 23.

Perfect running weather and a flat course may have contributed to the girls success, but they also had a lot of determination to win this meet. The girls have been the defending champions of this meet for six years in a row. They wanted to continue the tradition.

Leading the Bulldogs was Amanda Lieser. She won the meet. Following her was Erin Aagesen in third. Aagesen was right up there with the lead runners throughout the race.

Crossing the finish line next was Camille Flanders. She paced herself very well and placed 11th. Twelve seconds later, Carin Frenchick came through the chute. Emily Glenz, running very consistently, followed close behind Frenchick and placed 15th.
