Netters advance in sub section playoffs

Volleyball The second-seeded Bulldogs defeated seventh-seeded Osakis in the first round of District 17 volleyball playoffs Mondya night. Paynesville won in three sets and advanced to the district semifinals against ACGC on Thursday. That match will be held in Sauk Centre at 7 p.m.

Due to the short week of school, the varsity volleyball team had only one game, against Albany on Tuesday, Oct. 19. But, before the game even started, Coach Sheila Mayer was injured and needed immediate care. She is fine now, but the assistant coaches had to fill in for her.

The girls did well. They had some really great plays, but also some mistakes. Those common mistakes cost them the game, and the Bulldogs lost the match in three games.

Courtney Karsch had consistent hitting and had three ace hits. Tanya Lieser had five ace hits.

The Bulldogs realize what they have to do to get ready for their first round of playoffs. The second-seeded Bulldogs played on Monday at home against Osakis, the seventh seed.
